Let's Go Model SailingBy Steve Lang
SailRC grew out of a need in the RC sailing community for a center of information and products relating to radio controlled model sailing. This section of our site is designed for the person new to RC sailing, and for some that may find the barrage of language and complexities of RC sailing a little bewildering. I grew up sailing, and began racing sailboats when I was 10. On and off during my adult career I have returned to sailboats in many ways from designing, to chartering, to teaching, and finally to all of the above in radio controlled sailboats. At no time in my life of sailing have I enjoyed it more than competitive sailing in models. It is easier on the body, and even more challenging for the mind. And yet there is nothing like the serenity of sailing across a pond, watching the boat react to the wind and water. In this section, I hope to open your eyes to some of what drew me to this wonderful sport and pastime. Model sailing is for everyone - because it wants to be. Gone is the stuck up Yacht Clubs where you needed to "belong". Gone are the high price tag to participate, and the complicated learning curve. Today we enjoy reliable radio control equipment, inexpensive high performance RC model sailboats, and quick learning programs to help anyone enjoy the sport of sailing. Since models sail on small ponds and lakes, sailing is reaching into every community in America.
