Kit or Ready to Sail

Kit - The Seawind is the only kit boat we offer. Even though we will gladly build the boat and ship Ready-to-Sail, we know you will find this an enjoyable do-it-yourself project. Don't be put off by all the bits and pieces in the photo below, it really isn't scary at all. Actually, there are a number of duplicates in case you drop something and can't find it!

Having built a number of different production model boats, I can tell you without hesitation that this is the easiest, best fitted, and quickest build of any kit sailboat on the market. You should finish, including painting, in 10-12 hours easily. The fact that the hull and deck are molded in one piece is crucial to uniformity, and greatly reduces a builder's anxiety level.

The rigging is simple, yet effective, with a minimum of tiny parts. Even knot tying is not the drudgery of many models. All the screws and glues are included along with our own renowned "Addendum Manual", complete with color pictures and detail that eliminates head scratchin'.

So evenly matched, only the color is the difference.

Being that this is a strictly regulated one-design racing class, there are virtually no modifications allowed - the ones that are, we outline in our addendum manual. We even add our own 1-2-3, anyone-can-do-it-if-you-know-how painting guide.

Add to that our free consulting service. I can give you my best rendition of "been there, done that7quot;, and I will be glad to walk you through any step.

Ready - to - Sail Yes, we know there are those that don't have the time or the inclination to build a model. You just want to throw it in the water and have fun. So getting an RTS model may be your best solution.

When you get your boat, you still need to assemble it, but we are talking about 1/2 hour as compared to 10 - 12 hours of kit building.

As you will note in the store, we offer the boat in several stages of completion and/or finish. Time is money, so the more we do, the more we charge. Seems fair enough. All prices for the items below are listed in our store.

Almost RTS - We build the kit, without electronics. It is not painted but is prepped for painting (hull smooth to 600 grit). You install the electronics, make a few adjustments, paint or not, apply decals or not, and away you go.

Electronics - You may purchase either the Hitec electronics system or the Spektrum electronics system to install yourself. You also receive the right servos, etc., so all you do is drop in the parts, do a little adjustment - all you need is a screwdriver, OR, we will do the installation and adjustments for you.

Paint Job - No, we don't do fancy custom paint jobs. But we do provide a good quality, high durability, easy to repair, paint finish. One color, hull only /or hull, keel, and rudder (includes replacing the rubber ballast lead cover with painted finish).

Upgrade Hatch - You might know that the standard hatch leaks. Our solution is a good alternative ~ a clear plexiglass hatch that is very easy to open and close, with good waterproof seal. Buy the kit or have us install.

Price- We sell at the lowest MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) set by the manufacturer. We do offer special packages others can't or won't, and we also support group purchases with special discounts. But above all, we "value-add" to our price with all we mentioned on the Welcome page under "Why you should buy your Seawind from Us". Bottom line is you can't get a better deal anywhere, guaranteed!
